Ben Robin Lucent
Celebrant & Solemniser
I’m Ben, an Interfaith Minister offering spiritual accompaniment and celebrancy. I work with people who do not feel comfortable, safe, or welcome in traditional religious institutions but still feel a connection or wish to connect with “something more," however you name that.
As someone who’s autistic, queer, and trans (identities I came to understand later in my life), I know what it’s like when traditional spiritual containers don’t work for your nervous system or authentic self. I left the Catholic Church at 15, a devout atheist, eventually exploring Buddhism, Shamanic practices, and contemplative Christianity. I’m drawn to the mystical/direct-revelation aspect of traditions and fascinated by the overlaps and authentic practices that work, rather than rules and proscriptions. You could say that the meaning of life has been my lifelong special interest.
I found my way to Interfaith Ministry through lived experience rather than theory, from a sincere desire to help liberate the heart that searches for meaning from gatekeeping institutions, cynicism, and the overwhelm of not knowing where to start or who to trust. Interfaith Ministers, familiar with many traditions and approaches, occupy a middle ground, free from dogma, agenda, or tribe. I come alive sitting with people as they make meaning of their lives; it is creative, joyful work and it never feels like effort. You, and the life you are living, are your truest, wisest teacher. Listening in, alone or with a non-judgemental, accepting witness, returns us to wholeness, where healing and action arise naturally.
My approach is trauma-informed and neuro-affirming. I work somatically, helping you to create safety you can feel in your body, not just think about. Whether you’re healing from religious harm, exploring practices from other traditions, or need someone who won’t wince when you don’t know “the right words”, I get it. I have been there, done that, and bought many t-shirts.
My approach to ceremony work is to listen to you with care and clarity, to allow your own insight to guide us, to help create an authentic, personally and spiritually meaningful experience together. I offer ceremonies for life transitions, identity blessings, and relationships, that honour who you actually are. Spirituality, playfulness, joy and somatic awareness are welcome in the ceremonies we create together and are a natural part of how I am in life and in sacred work. I'm looking forward to meeting you. I'm very happy to speak or email to answer any questions or just to see if we're a good fit.
